As a GRPS graduate, she understands firsthand the importance of strong public schools and the impact they can have on students, families, and communities.
Aarie has also spent her career serving the Baxter neighborhood and some of our community’s most under-resourced students and families. Her work has given her a deep understanding of the challenges facing students beyond the classroom and the ways in which housing, health, economic opportunity, neighborhood conditions, and other community factors can directly influence educational outcomes.
For several years, Aarie has also served as a KSSN board member, where I have had the opportunity to see her commitment to students, families, and our community firsthand. She is engaged, thoughtful, and extremely knowledgeable about the connection between community challenges and school challenges. She understands that improving outcomes for students requires schools to work collaboratively with families, community organizations, and other partners.

I support Aarie for Reelection for GRPS school board because she considers the students, educators community first and puts the community’s and needs and feedback in to consideration which is needed in leadership. Aarie has consistently advocated and been a voice for economics change and increasing digital equity for all students & the community. Aarie has been a consistent genuine voice on the school board and voice of reason & fairness in a systems that needs “genuine” leadership that can be trusted to have those hard decisions that effects the entire community. Aarie has continued to favor the community and the staff and students. That is needed in times of uncertainty and lack of trust in institutions. As a fellow trustee on the Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education, I’m proud to endorse Aarie Wade for reelection this November. Trustee Wade is a steady advocate for equity in our district, showing up to make sure every child has a genuine opportunity to thrive as a scholar. Now, there have been times when she and I disagree. But what I respect about serving alongside her is that she stays in the conversation. She listens, she engages honestly, and she treats disagreement as part of good governance instead of division. It’s an honor to work alongside her, and I hope you’ll join me in voting for Aarie Wade this November!

I want to make public my endorsement of Aarie Wade for re-election to the GRPS Board of Education, This November there are 6 of 9 seats up for election onto the GRPS school board. Having served on the board for almost 8 years now, I believe it is Imperative that we elect strong board members who not only have high hopes for our scholars and district as a whole, but also who know governance, know our district, and have the skills and determination to help our current superintendent and future superintendent move forward with the vision and mission of the district. This is why I fully support Aarie Wade for re-election. In her time on the board, Aarie has proven to be a strong advocate for scholars. She pushes for equity through out the district and high standards for both academic and social/emotional growth.
Aarie is a relationship builder. She is able to stay true to her values and commitments while listening and learning from her colleagues, the community, and GRPS staff. She knows her role in governance and has a strong commitment to the community who elected her to serve.
Aarie is a leader. She is a respected voice on and off the board. Her experience will be needed as a new board navigates moving the district forward.
